Insurance coverage for Acupuncture

The VA covers acupunture treatments!

The veteran will seek care from the VA.

The VA determines, based on eligibility criteria, that the veteran should receive acupuncture from a community provider.

The VA schedules your initial appointment with Anoka Massage & Pain Therapy and sends a referral packet.

Health insurance coverage for acupunture

Call your customer service number on your insurance card. Ask if your benefits pay for acupuncture performed by a Licensed Acupuncturist.

Typically you do not need a doctor’s referral. If your insurance covers your acupuncture treatments, you will need to pay at time of service and submit your claim to your health insurance company for re-imbursement.

*As of 3/1/22 we will no longer be billing health insurance for acupuncture treatments.

We do not bill directly to health insurance. In some cases clients can submit receipts for massage directly to their health insurance for reimbursement.

Auto insurance coverage

If you have been injured in an auto accident, your auto insurance will pay for massage and/or acupuncture. Typically you do not need a doctor’s referral. Call us to set up an appointment. We will bill the insurance company directly.

Auto Insurance is billed per unit at a rate of $53 for massage and $75/40 for acupuncture. These rates include medical billing, reports, electronic insurance billing, diagnostic coding, administration fees, interfacing with other medical providers, communications with insurance companies and attorneys and collection.

Please note that when we submit bills to a patient’s auto insurance, it does not automatically mean the claim will cover those treatments for reimbursement. Clients are responsible to pay for any treatments that are not processed by their auto insurance.

Workers Compensation insurance coverage

If you have a work related injury,  your work comp insurance may pay for massage and/or acupuncture. You will need a prior authorization from your work comp company. Call us to set up an appointment. We will bill the work comp insurance company directly.

Please note that when we submit bills to a patient’s workers comp insurance, it does not automatically mean the claim will cover those treatments for reimbursement. Clients are responsible to pay for any treatments that are not processed by their worker’s comp insurance.
